The tall Chennai lad Vishnu had started third from the grid but by lap three he was leading the 15-lap race. It was an action-packed start as Kush Maini snatched lead from pole sitter Krishnaraj Mahadik in lap 2 with a brilliant move in the mickey-mouse corner.
Vishnu though blazed the Kari Motor Speedway track with gritty moves and soon overtook both Kush and Krishnaraj.
However, Vishnu put the experience of years to full use and kept Krishnaraj behind, winning the race by 1.109 seconds margin. Kush was happy to take third place on podium, finishing 5.907 seconds behind the winner.
"After that mickey mouse move by Kush, I also dived in and managed to get ahead. Krishna was brilliant, for 10 laps he put constant pressure on me," Vishnu said after his win.
Krishnaraj said Vishnu's pace was too good to contest.
"He was very consistent with his pace. I am happy that I kept Kush behind me," the Kolhapur racer said.
15-year-old Kush Maini he was nervous and made mistakes.
"I started a bit nervous. I lost momentum when Krishna also passed me. Instead of pushing to win, I wanted to finish the race. I am happy with the third, hopefully I will improve," the Bangalorean said.
Three racers posted DNF -- Sandeep Kumar, Ameya Bafna and Dhruv Mohite.
In the first race of the morning, the LGB 4, Ajay completed a dominating win in Race 1, finishing a comfortable 3.264 seconds ahead of second-placed Raghul Rangasamy. TS Diljith took the last position on podium.
