Visva Bharati student registers statement under Sec 164

The Viswa Bharati student, who was allegedly molested and sexually harassed by three of her seniors, today recorded her statement before the magistrate.
The Kala Bhavan student, who hails from Sikkim, registered her statement before the second judicial magistrate of Bolpur court, Sourav Nandi.
Assistant Public Prosecutor Phiroze Pal said the girl made her statement in camera under Section 164 of the CrPC amidst tight security.
She was taken to the place of occurrence by the police in the morning to facilitate investigation, police said.
The girl had lodged a complaint with the university authorities after the incident in August end had alleged that three seniors of her department and an outsider had sexually harassed her and clicked photos with their mobiles and threatened to blackmail her.
She had left the university after the incident with her father on August 30 and returned on September 3 and filed a complaint with the police.
She had also agreed to record her statement before the judicial magistrate in Bolpur court under Section 164 of CrPC but could not do so as she fell sick and was admitted to Burdwan Medical College Hospital.
She arrived here yesterday to record her statement.
The three accused students, two from the second year and one from the third year, were arrested and now under judicial custody. The outsider was yet to be arrested.
