Vohra urges Centre to release funds for flood-hit businessmen

Jammu and Kashmir Governor N N Vohra has appealed to Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh to take an urgent decision on the release of relief funds to the owners of small-scale businesses who suffered huge losses due to devastating floods in the state last year.
"Keeping in view the difficulties being faced by the business community consequent to the recent floods, the Governor has urged the Union Home Minister to take an urgent decision regarding the allocation of funds to the small business enterprises, a proposal regarding which is contained in the comprehensive Rs 44,000 crore package submitted by the State Government to the Centre," a Raj Bhawan spokesman said.

He said that in his communication to the Home Minister, the Governor pointed out that it would be extremely difficult for the small business units to be able to revive their activities as they do not have any banking facility or insurance cover.
The Governor said that such units can be revived only if the government provides them some financial assistance.
