Voter-population ratio increases in Haryana

With the addition of 5.65 new voters, the voters to population ratio has risen in Haryana as per the latest list revised after the recently held state Assembly elections.
The voter-population ratio has risen to 60.86 now from 60.29 on December 1, 2014.
In the latest revision, 4.14 lakh new voters in the age group of 18-29 years have been added which comprise 73.27 per cent of the total newly added voters.
According to voters list published in the state, there are 1.67 crore voters of which 89.8 lakh are male and 77 lakh female.
This was revealed at the state level programme on the occasion of fifth National Voters Day presided by Haryana Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki at Dyal Singh College here.

Speaking at the function, Solanki said the constitution of India has given the 'Right to Vote' to their citizen which is a powerful right and asked every citizen to use the right "carefully so as to strengthen the democracy of the country."
He said that the National Voters Day holds great importance for democracy; the Constitution of India came into force on January 26, 1950 before this Election Commission of India (ECI) was formed on January 1950 to facilitate people to choose its government.
The Commission makes arrangements for its citizens to exercise their constitutional right - 'Right to Vote' and also works to generate awareness among voters.
