VVIP area parking rates to increase in Delhi

Parking rates in VVIP areas of the capital are all set to go up by June this year.
A decision in this regard was taken in the council's meeting presided over by Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit here today.
According to the new structure, parking charges for the first two hours have gone up by a steep 400 per cent.
People will have to shell out Rs 20 for the first hour and Rs 40 for up to two hours. Earlier, one had to pay just Rs 10 for up to two hours.
Parking charges up to three hours will now be Rs 60, up to four hours it will be Rs 80 and up to five hours and beyond it will be Rs 100; the rates applicable till now were Rs 20, Rs 30 and Rs 40 respectively.
"The new parking rates have been approved in the council's meeting today. New rates are expected to come into effect from June this year," said Arun Kumar Mishra, director of public relations at NDMC.
