Wanted Maoist arrested after gun battle

A Maoist "sub-zonal commander" carrying a reward of Rs five lakh on his head was arrested at Bhounri village in Garhwa district after an encounter with the police, police said today.
Police Superintendent Sudhir Kumar Jha said that the Maoist 'sub zonal commander' Jitendra Kharwar suffered bullet wounds in the encounter with the police in the wee hours.
"He was arrested while his associates numbering about 10 managed to flee," Jha said, adding Kharwar carried five lakh rupees on his head.
