"I am hungry for good work. After "Tevar" I was not 100 per cent physically, emotionally and mentally strong. I had done six back to back films," Arjun said in an interview here.
"I had not taken break for a single day after 'Ishaqzaade' released as I was loving my job. But working continuously for three years I was exhausted... It was physically draining. Now I would prefer to do one film at a time," he said.
However, his second film "Aurangzeb" (2013) again backed by Aditya Chopra failed to garner attention of the audience. The year 2014 saw Arjun delivering three hit films - "Gunday", "2 States" and "Finding Fanny".
In 2015, he had his father Boney Kapoor's home production film "Tevar" which did not do well at the box office. This year, he has one film "Ki and Ka" and a TV reality show "Khatron Ke Khiladi" that he is hosting.
"I was bored to see myself on screen so I can imagine about the audience getting frustrated. In 12 months, I delivered four films.. It is not right, it saturates the market. I felt it was the correct time to go slow," Arjun said.
"I got screwed up badly during 'Tevar'. I was in a good space, I would have taken a break even if the film would have done good. I had lot of health issues as I was shooting for "Tevar" and promoting other films," he said.
Arjun was working round the clock for three years and
hence decided to do few films.
"R Balki (director of 'Ki and Ka') met me in March last year. By that time, Kareena was on board. We started the film in July and finished it in September. After that I did 'Khatron Ke Khiladi' so I did a film and a television show in a year," he said.
"Kareena and I only gossip. Its a fact she gossips than anybody else. She takes it all from Karan (filmmaker Karan Johar)," he added.
The 30-year-old actor revealed that his co-star's actor husband Saif Ali Khan has praised his work in the "Ki and Ka".
"Saif has send me a sweet message. It says you are a different kind of hero. My respect for you has gone up. You have killed it right from the promos," he added.
The R Balki directed film, also starring Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan in cameos, releases on April 1.
