Washington, 37, announced in October last year that she was expecting her first child with husband Nnamdi Asomugha, reported People magazine.
"She's very excited about being a mom. She's sort of floating around having just been married and now having a baby and putting a family together," Morton said.
The 66-year-old actor, who plays Washington's father on the hit ABC series, said the actress sometimes sings to her unborn baby.
"She spends a lot of time singing to it and talking to it to say we're just playing pretend and everything's going to be okay, so don't worry about it," he added.
