The inflow receded from 89,723 cusces to 42,252 cusecs, while the outflow was maintaied at 9,000 cusecs, PWD sources said.
Yesterday, the sluice gates of the dam were thrown open for irrigation in the Cauvery delta region even as a flood alert was sounded with the water level touching 110 feet.
With the dam receiving copious inflows in the past few days, Chief Minister Jayalalithaa had on Aug 9 ordered release of water for irrigation from Aug 10 instead of August 15 as announced earlier.
