A Ministry of Water Resources statement has said that the water storage available in 85 important reservoirs as on December 24 was 92.977 BCM which is 60 per cent of total storage capacity of these reservoirs.
This storage is 85 per cent of the storage of corresponding period of last year and 98 per cent of average storage of last ten years, the statement said.
The present storage position during current year is less than the storage position of last year and also less than the average storage of last ten years, it said.
These reservoirs include 37 reservoirs having hydropower benefit with installed capacity of more than 60 MW.
The total storage capacity of these reservoirs is 155.046 BCM, which is about 61 per cent of estimated total capacity of 253.388 BCM in the country.
