At a function to felicitate meritorious Higher Secondary students, Mitra raised his hand as the names were being called when his palm accidentally touched a ceiling fan, Deputy Commissioner (DD) Barrackpore Commissionerate C Sudhakar said.
The state Finance Minister was rushed to a local nursing home where he was administered first aid, following which he returned to the venue to attend the programme, he said.
Doctors at the nursing home said his wound did not appear to be serious. Mitra, who represents Khardah Assembly constituency, later left for Kolkata.
