Accepting that the number of diarrhoea affected people in the city has been "above usual" this year, state Health Secretary Malay Dey, however, said "there was nothing to be worry about the disease".
"As most of the diarrhoea cases has been reported from the KMC areas, we have asked the authorities to check whether there has been any contamination of the water supplied," Dey told PTI.
"During monsoons, diarrhoea has been a very normal health problem. The situation here is not that critical, but people must be cautious," the health official added.
According to KMC sources, so far 394 diarrhoea patients, including today's 37, have been admitted at the Beliaghata ID hospital.
KMC has opened four health camps at Garfa's Ward No 109 where 33 people were undergoing treatment for diarrhoea, KMC M,MIC (health) Atin Ghosh said adding, ORS and Halogen tablets were made available at all 141 healthcare centres of the civic body.
