"WBSHRC have taken suo motu cognisance about the assault on the journalists in Barrackpore. It had asked an ADG rank officer of the commission to inquire into the matter and submit a report within two weeks," Sujay Haldar, a senior official of West Bengal Human Rights Commission, said.
Three cameramen of local TV channels were attacked last week with iron rods and lathis by some people, holding Trinamool Congress flags, when they went to cover reported factional rivalry in the party at Barrackpore in North 24-Parganas district.
Two of them were admitted to B N Bose Hospital where a CT Scan was conducted on one of the two who received head injuries. The condition of the two was stated to be out of danger, the police said.
