Deserted havildar caught while extorting money

A deserted havildar of Nagaland armed police was caught while he along with three other cadres of a militant outfit was extorting money from truck drivers along the National Highway 29 near Lalmati area in Nagaland, police said today.
Acting on an information, police reached the area and caught him and another while the other two fled by two-wheelers last evening, SDPO Kohima Shouka Kakheto said.
Both were from underground cadres of Khole-Kitovi faction of GPRN/NSCN outfit.
The havildar of 14th NAP (IR) Battalion was wanted by police as he deserted with his service AK 47, three magazine and 90 rounds and a radio set while on duty in June last year, he said.
