In an effort to host a successful Under-17 Football World Cup and put up a team that befits the occasion, national team skipper Sunil Chhetri today said he will be preparing a plan in this regard along with former captain Bhaichung Bhutia and reputed coach Derrick Pereira.
Aiming to beef up the technical know-how ahead of the mega event in 2017, the All India Football Federation (AIFF) had earlier this month formed of a special committee involving Bhutia, Chhetri and Pereira.
"Me along with Bhaichung and Derrick sir will sit together and prepare a plan for the U-17 World Cup team. We will then put our proposal forward to Kushal (Das) sir to take it forward," Chhetri said on the sidelines of an event here.
The executive committee of the AIFF had endorsed president Praful Patel's views to appoint a "special committee to advice the technical structure for the 2017 U-17 FIFA World Cup".
Talking about FIFA's age-group tournament, AIFF secretary Kushal Das said, "Sunil is a part of the special committee set up for the upcoming U-17 World Cup in which India will take part. It is also good to see that these boys are training in Europe with the best and among the best.
"I'm sure all of this will culminate in contributing largely to our U-17 World Cup team.
