Cricket Australia may be averse to their star players participation in the lucrative Indian Premier League but their trans-Tasman rivals New Zealand think otherwise.
"We think IPL is a top league. The New Zealand Cricket encourages its players to play in the IPL," James Wear, the commercial director of New Zealand Cricket said on the sidelines of the Black Caps sponsorship announcement with Gujarat-based dairy giants Amul for the Champions Trophy.
The Australia governing body has reportedly approached Test captain Steve Smith, vice-captain David Warner, fast bowlers Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins with three-year contracts provided they leave the IPL from next year.
