We have nothing to lose: Hogg

Perth Scorchers might not be having too many big names in their rank but Brad Hogg does not seem much worried as he feels his team has "nothing to lose" when they take on in-form qualifiers from New Zealand Otago Volts in the Champions League match here tomorrow.
The 42-year-old slow left-arm unorthodox bowler said that it would a great opportunity for the youngsters to the show their calibre in the absence of the star players.
"We do not have a couple of regular players here but I feel it is a great opportunity for the youngsters to show what they have," said Hogg.

"It is a bunch of youngsters and all are learning so we have nothing to lose but try and win. Some the young cricketers are talented and might graduate to higher level. We do not have foreign players but it an opportunity for the upcoming players.
"We know Otago would be a good challenge as they are a balanced team with some international players in their rank. We have to step up and look forward. In a T20 game if you do the basics right and can exert pressure on opposition you have your chance," he added.
Scorchers will be banking only on captain and veteran Simon Katich and limited overs specialist Adam Voges in the batting department, while the bowling unit, led by Hogg, is spin-heavy.

The veteran spinner insisted that India was like a second home to him.

"It is great to be here and felt nice when I met some my former Rajasthan Royals teammates. It is like second home to me and I could find a place in Rajasthan Royals. But I wanted to go back to my home team where it all had begun," said Hogg.
Meanwhile, Scorchers' wicketkeeper Tom Triffitt, who was named in Australia's squad for the Under-19 World Cup in 2010, denied that his team was short of match practice.
"Unfortunately the tie (against Lions) last night got washed away but I feel we are not short on that count (match practice)," he said.
