For this purpose, the state was dedicating an entire 'Analytics City' for AI, analytics at Kalyani where mathematicians, statisticians, AI and cyber security experts would co-habit, additional chief secretary with the IT and electronics department Debashis Sen said today.
"This government is trying to encourage frontier areas like AI, cyber security, IoT and robotics.... The main idea is to create an eco-system for which there is a need to attract talent," Sen said at an Assocham programme here.
"Talent does not reside only in big cities. Talent is also available in smaller towns like Durgapur and Siliguri etc," Sen said.
The government is setting up IT parks across the state, besides development of clusters, he said adding that the state government has also decided at the highest level to set up a centre of excellence on cyber security.
The government is in the process of helping not-so economically well-off students get access to on-line courses on IT, Sen said.
"With the help of IIIT, we are trying to develop 10 most used on-line courses and scholarships will be given to these students," he said.
