West Bengal to come up with Citizen Services App

The West Bengal government plans to come out with a Citizen Services App that will help bring together academia, investors and budding entrepreneurs as part of the start-up action plan.
The government is trying to introduce start-up action plan in partnership with the private sector and has requested Nasscom to offer its expertise and assistance.
However, it will take some time before the citizens services app becomes available for the public, state IT secretary Tallen Kumar said at an interactive session with Nasscom.
The government already has the e-district facility and 27 services are already available online, Kumar said.
IT minister Bratya Basu said seven IT parks are near completion and are expected to be completed by this fiscal creating job opportunity for 20,000 IT professionals.
Nasscom Products Conclave is slated to be held in city on July 15 and many IT leaders are expected to participate in the event.
Nasscom eastern region chairman Kamal Agarwala said the IT body has undertaken a pilot project to offer final year engineering students one year internship with IT companies for to make them industry ready.
"We are holding a pilot with 70 students in seven IT companies and once it is successful we will scale it up," he said.
