Rising trend in wheat prices remained unabated for fifth day by rising Rs 20 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today following persistent demand from flour mills coupled with tight supplies.
However, other grains held steady in thin trade.
Traders said besides rising demand from flour mills, tight stocks position on pause in arrivals mainly kept wheat prices higher.
Firming trend in wheat at futures trade also supported the upmove, they said.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) and wheat (desi) advanced by Rs 20 each to Rs 1,980-1,985 and Rs 2,420-2,955 per quintal, respectively. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and enquired higher by a similar margin to Rs 1,990-1,995 per 90 kg.
