Wheat prices moved up by 0.73 per cent to Rs 1,654 per quintal in futures market today as speculators raised their bets amid rising demand in the spot market.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, wheat for delivery in November month went up by Rs 12, or 0.73 per cent to Rs 1,654 per quintal with an open interest of 7,380 lots.
Likewise, the wheat for delivery in October contracts traded higher by Rs 9, or 0.56 per cent to Rs 1,626 per quintal in 6,950 lots.
Analysts said widening of positions by traders on the back of surging demand in the physical market amid pause in arrivals mainly led to rise in wheat prices at futures trade.
