Wheat remain weak on low demand from flour mills

Wheat remained weak for the second straight day and prices shed another 5 per quintal at the wholesale grains market today owing to slackened demand from flour mills against adequate stocks.
However, maize and barley ended higher on increased offtake by consuming industries.
Traders said subdued demand from flour mills against ample stocks kept pressure on wheat prices.
Meanwhile, government yesterday said it has sufficient buffer stock to meet the demand of wheat under the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and other welfare schemes.
In the national capital, wheat dara (for mills) fell further by Rs 5 to Rs 1,765-1,770 per quintal. Atta chakki delivery followed suit and enquired lower by a similar margin to Rs 1,770-1,775 per 90 kg.

On the other hand, maize climbed by Rs 100 to Rs 1,725-1,735, while barley also edged up by Rs 10 to Rs 1,680-1,685 per quintal respectively.

Barley shed Rs 10 to Rs 1,670-1,675 per quintal.
