Rain waters inundated many low lying areas in the region, officials said.
The rains continued for the second day today, bringing respite to people from hot days and sultry weather.
The spell of rain brought cheers to farmers as it is good for the paddy crop which is widely grown in the twin agrarian states.
Derabassi was lashed by 106 mm of rainfall, Nuh 98 mm, Indri 90 mm, Gurdaspur 62.4 mm, Naraingarh 76 mm, Jagadhari 57 mm and Ballabgarh 46 mm, the MeT office said here.
The rainfall eased power and water situation in the region to some extent, officials said.
The MeT forecast light to moderate showers in few places in the region during the next 24 hours.
