Widespread rains lash Himachal, one killed

One person was killed and three others were injured when a boulder fell on their car as widespread rains lashed several parts of Himachal Pradesh.
Krishan Negi, DGM (land) at Ambuja Cements Limited, was killed, while his wife and daughter sustained injuries when a huge boulder fell on their car after heavy rains near Dalraghat, 50 km from here.
Meanwhile, all 25 people, including the chief judicial magistrate of Pathankot, who were stranded in their vehicles at Saach Pass on the Chamba-Killar highway due to inclement weather yesterday, have been evacuated safely.
Chamba Deputy Commissioner Sudesh Mokhta said two teams with medical staff had been deployed, one from Pangi and one from Churah sub-division. The passengers were travelling in 4 vehicles and on 12 motorcycles.
Heavy rains lashed several parts in the lower and mid hills of Himachal. Kheri was the wettest place in the region with 60 mm of rains during past 24 hours.
Solan gauged 58 mm of precipitation, Dharamsala 54 mm, Jubbar Hatti 47 mm. Palampur 44 mm, Kasauli 39 mm, Dharampur 37 mm, Salooni 31 mm, Gaggal 25 mm, Renuka 24 mm, Karsog 22 mm, Shimla 19 mm and Rampur 17 mm.
The minimum temperature dropped by two-three degrees Celsius across the state. The MeT office has predicted rains in the lower and mid hills and rains or snow in the higher reaches over the next six days.
