A 30-year-old groom was allegedly thrashed by his first wife at the venue of his wedding with another woman in Uttar Pradesh's Shamli district, police said on Friday.

The incident occurred at Titarsi village under Thana Bhawan block on Thursday, the police said.

Manju reached the wedding ceremony with her family and started thrashing Pankaj Kumar for marrying another woman. He was later handed over to the police, an officer said.

A case of dowry and family dispute was pending in Meerut against the man, the officer said.
