The 22-year-old woman was married to Amit, a distant relative, around four-year-ago and the couple has two daughters.
Amit was living in Nepal and snapped all contacts with her and the family. He did not even take calls from her on his mobile, Officer in-charge of Town police station Sunil Kumar Sharma said today.
The woman then thought of a strategy and started calling him from another mobile posing herself as a different girl. She continued to do so for the past six months with Amit failing to realise she was actually his estranged wife.
The officer said the woman went to Hajipur with plainclothes policemen in tow yesterday.
Amit fell straight into the trap and was arrested.
He was booked under IPC Section 498 A (cruelty by husband or relatives of husband), brought to Muzaffarpur, and sent to jail.
