The injured was identified as Rabindra Das, a native of Vekta lying close to the Bhitarkanika wildlife sanctuary.
He was first taken to a local hospital and then shifted to S.C.B Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack, said Divisional Forest Officer, Rajnagar Mangrove (wildlife) Forest Division, Kedar Kumar Swain.
The forest department is bearing the cost of treatment of the injured man, he added.
Violence had erupted in sanctuary-side Sasanapeta village on October 18, 2013 following the death of a local by attack by wild boars. The irate residents had set ablaze the nearby Gahirmatha forest range office and triggered extensive damage to forest department properties including motorized sea-worthy vessels earmarked for turtle protection programme.
