"I will announce my decision in two months," he told reporters at the airport when asked about joining DMK again.
On being asked about the reported removal of his supporters from the party, Alagiri shot back, "Is it so? If that is the case, lakhs of my supporters should have been removed."
The 65-year-old leader declined to answer whether he would meet his father and DMK chief Karunanidhi on the matter.
"It could be a rumour. He was expelled from the party several years ago. There is no compulsion for me to answer such questions," Stalin told reporters when asked about recent news in a section of media that Alagiri, who was party's south zone organisational secretary, may return to DMK.
Alagiri was expelled in January 2014 for anti-party activities. Many of his supporters also faced disciplinary action including removal from the party.
