In an apparent warning to senior MLA Manas Bhuniya who recently took over as Chairman of PAC against his party's wishes, state Congress chief Adhir Chowdhury today said he will not tolerate any indiscipline.
"I will not tolerate any sort of indiscipline in the party. I will be the last person to do so. Whatever action we take, we will let you know at an appropriate time," Chowdhury told reporters.
The Congress today held a high-level meeting here at the state Congress headquarters.
When asked to react on Bhuniya's allegation against him and Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Abdul Mannan, Chowdhury said, "I don't react to each and every statement. He is free to say whatever he wants to."
"The party would wait for a few more days and then recommend the high command to suspend Bhuniya from Congress, a senior state party leader on condition of anonymity told PTI.
"Bhuniya can't do whatever he feels like. There is a party discipline, which everybody has to follow. The ball is now in his court. We will wait for a few more days and then decide. If he decides against stepping down we will recommend to the high command to suspend him in order to set a precedence," a senior Congress leader told PTI.
Lashing out at both Chowdhury and Mannan of conspiring against him and humiliating him, Bhuniya had yesterday advised Chowdhury to keep calm and let him work as PAC chairman for one year.
