Wipro Lighting working on new digital lighting solutions

Wipro Lighting, part of the Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting Group, is working on developing new solutions under its Internet of Lighting initiative, a top company official said here today.
Under the initiative, the company is providing smart and connected lighting solutions for indoor and outdoor purposes, Wipro Consumer Care and Lighting, Chief Technology Officer, Commercial Lighting Business, Makarand L Sainis said.
"We have collaborated with CISCO. Based on CISCO platform, we can control the entire lighting systems, you can control the light colour, intensity of the lighting..", he told reporters here.
Through the collaboration, CISCO would provide the infrastructure while the company would provide the lighting solutions, he said.

"Instead of the basic electrical wiring, data cables that connect the computers, servers to lighting systems will be used. These cables not only provide power but also carry data through which we can control the lighting," he said.
The new lighting solutions were fully designed in house at Bengaluru and manufactured at various manufacturing facilities of the company present across the country, he said.
To a query, he said, "upto 60W of power can be transmitted through the digital lighting solutions which will be suitable for official purposes."
