Bangalore-based Wipro's Lighting and Furniture Business today said it has inked a licencing agreement with Interstuhl to manufacture the German firm's popular 'Goal' range of chairs for the Indian market.
"We have entered into a licencing agreement with the Interstuhl of Germany to manufacture their popular 'Goal' range of chairs for the Indian market," Wipro Senior Vice- President and Business Head (Commercial Light & Furniture Business) Parag Kulkarni told reporters here.
Interstuhl is one of the top chair manufacturers of Europe.
The company plans to make these chairs at its Chennai facility, which has a capacity of 1,25,000 units per annum, Kulkarni said.
There is a strong demand from corporates and IT industry for these high-end chairs, which are suitable for people working for long hours, he said.
Wipro today launched Interstuhl range of chairs at a 'Light & Furniture Show' here. At the event, Wipro brought forth the benefits of LED lighting technology to its customers in the commercial & residential markets by launching a new range of products for varied applications.
The company also launched new LED lights under the 'Cleanray' and Wipro brand.
The Cleanray brand, acquired by Wipro over two years back, is doing extremely well. It has helped Wipro migrate many new users to LED technology. Wipro is aggressively investing in developing it further, Kulkarni said.
