A day after the Maharashtra legislature passed a bill providing 16 per cent reservation to the Marathas, Chief MInister Devendra Fadnavis told the Assembly Friday that a mega recruitment drive to fill vacant posts in the government will be started soon.
In August, Fadnavis hadannounced that the government would put on hold recruitment in 72,000 government posts till the Maratha community gets reservation.
Subsequently, the State Backward Class Commission (SBCC) submitted its reporton social and educational backwardness of the Maratha community on November 15 and the bill providing quota to the community was passed unanimously Thursday.
