Bhateri Devi took the extreme step yesterday, they said.
In a complaint lodged with the police last evening, the woman's brother Rajesh Kumar alleged that his sister had been tormented by her husband, her two sons and their wives for the last about 12 months.
Acting on the complaint, police have registered a case of abetment of suicide against the deceased's husband Prithvi Singh Yadav (51), her elder son Pradeep Yadav (26) and his wife Meena Devi, her second son Dharmender Yadav (24) and his wife Pramila Devi.
The matter is under investigation, police said.
