Woman cops in Delhi to get out-of-turn promotion too

In a landmark move, Delhi Police have decided that its women personnel, who, unlike their male counterparts, have never got out-of-turn promotion for outstanding performance, will now be rewarded with this.
In a standing order issued by Delhi Police Commissioner Alok Kumar Verma, it was noted that "only male police personnel have got the benefit of out-of-turn promotion".
Informing that outstanding performance by women police personnel is yet to be rewarded "suitably" in various fields it ordered to consider them for out-of-turn promotion to recognise their hard work.
"Women personnel posted as constables and inspectors will be eligible for out-of-turn promotions based on certain parameters," a senior police officer said.

An Incentive Committee nominated by Verma will meet once a year and will examine all cases of out-of-turn promotion, the order, that has been circulated too all senior Delhi Police officers, says.
It says for considering outstanding performance of women subordinate officers parameters will include exemplary performance in imparting self-defence training, preventing crime, taking up anti-eve-teasing operations.
Other parameters include conducting outstanding investigation in heinous crimes against women, busting of human trafficking rackets, accident prevention measures and achievements in motivational and community policing programmes, the order says.
Women subordinate officers, who have been convicted by a court of law for an offence involving moral turpitude or lack of integrity, will not be eligible for out of turn promotion, the order states.
