Dengue fever has resurfaced in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district with 10 of the 29 samples collected from Sullia taluk in the district testing positive for the disease.
Health department sources said a 48 year-old woman from Puttur-Kasaragod border died of suspected dengue on June 13 at a hospital here.
According to District surveillance officer Dr B V Rajesh, this could be confirmed only after testing the serum samples to detect dengue anti-bodies, which would be done in two days.
The district had recorded two deaths and 85 dengue cases between January and July last year.
The control of the mosquito-borne disease would be difficult without people coming forward to check the breeding of mosquitoes in their premises, the sources said.
