Woman duped with fake gold coins, accused arrested

Member of a Uttar Pradesh-based gang was nabbed here on charges of duping a woman by giving her fake gold coins in exchange of Rs 1.8 lakh and gold ornaments.
The complainant had filed an FIR in the Hatigaon police station about two months ago that a man, a woman and two others had sought financial help to treat their seriously-ill relative in exchange of their gold coins, police sources said.
They asked the complainant to keep the gold coins till they returned the money and her gold ornaments within a month, they said.
The woman gave Rs 1.8 lakh, a gold chain, two bangles, rings and ear rings worth Rs two lakh in exchange of the coins, the sources said.

Based on her FIR police launched a search operation and arrested one of the accused under IPC section 403 (criminal misappropriation of property) and 420 (cheating).
Efforts are on to recover the woman's gold ornaments and money and arrest the other accomplices of the accused.
