Woman gives birth in train, baby dies

A pregnant woman travelling in a train gave birth to a baby boy near here, but the newborn died for want of proper medical attention, Railway Protection Force (RPF) officials said today.
The woman and her husband had boarded the Awadh-Assam Express from Bhatinda for Samastipur. As the train left Hajipur, the woman developed labour pain and she gave birth to a boy before the train reached Muzaffarpur.
The newborn, however, could not be saved for the want of proper medical assistance in the train, they said.
When the train reached Muzaffarpur station, passengers created an uproar following which RPF admitted the woman to Sadar hospital where she was stated to be out of danger.
