A woman and her eight-month-old daughter were Wednesday crushed to death by a speeding truck in Achnera town, 30 kilometres from here, police said.
The deceased have been identified as Manisha and her daughter Amrata, they said, adding that they were residents of a nearby village.
According to eyewitnesses, the victims were sitting by the side of the road when they were run over by the truck, police said.
Locals got hold of the driver and handed him over to police, they said.
The bodies have been sent for autopsy, Inspector Sher Singh said.
The driver has been arrested and a case registered against the owner of the truck, he added.
