The incident occurred last evening when the accused, Sadab, had gone to Matiya Darwaja where he had a chance encounter with Shakir, a resident of the area, they added.
A heated altercation ensued between Sadab and Shakir, who were involved in a feud over a property, police said, adding that the two reached Shakir's house where Sadab poured acid on his sister-in-law and fled from the spot.
"A case has been registered against Sadab, a resident of Machali Mandi under Kotwali police station for pouring acid on the 'bhabhi' (sister-in-law) of Shakir, a resident of Matiya Darwaja under Govind Nagar police station. A hunt for the accused is on," DSP Jagdish Singh said.
