The police said the mishap took place when the driver lost control while crossing the Laphakia bridge at Katkumsandi of Hazaribagh district and fell off the bridge.
The driver is absconding, the police said.
The deceased was identified as Poonam Devi, 30, who hailed from neighbouring Chatra district.
All the injured, many of them who suffered fractures in their legs, were admitted to Hazaribagh Sadar hospital, the sources said.
