A woman died of severe burn injuries after a village muscleman allegedly threw acid on her in Katihar district, police said today.
Dayawati Devi used to deposit money with one Kalu Singh at Ragamatia village. When she demanded her money back, Singh got angry and allegedly poured a bottle of acid on her yesterday.
Local people rushed to the place after hearing her scream and took her to Barsoi sub-divisional hospital where she died, police said.
Dayawati Devi was living with her daughter as her husband had left her several years ago.
An FIR has been lodged on the statement of the deceased woman's daughter. The accused is absconding.
