The woman, identified as Seema, has been detained by the police, said Dependra Pathak, Joint Commissioner of Police (South West).
According to the police, Seema allegedly killed her husband, Om Bharadwaj (40), on August 15 night and then put his body inside a bed box.
On August 16 morning, she allegedly pulled out the body from the bed box, dragged it downstairs and dumped it in the septic tank beneath the verandah of the two-storeyed house. After that she allegedly summoned a few labourers and got the lid of the septic tank cemented.
She told her sister-in-law about it, who reported the matter to her brother and later both of them approached the police.
A police team was rushed to the spot. Last evening, the officials had to break open the lid of the septic tank to exhume Om Bharadwaj's decomposed body. The body was later sent for postmortem examination, said the official.
"A case was registered under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) of IPC at Baba Haridas Nagar police station," said RA Sanjeev, Deputy Commissioner of Police (South-West).
