P Pujitha was found hanging in her bedroom by her parents last night, Rajendranagar police station sub-inspector M Mallikarjun said.
"Her marriage was fixed and the engagement ceremony was scheduled on October 1. Yesterday, she was alone at the house as her parents had gone for shopping. She allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan with a saree," he said.
The sub-inspector said the exact cause behind Pujitha taking the extreme step could not be known immediately, as no suicide note was found.
A case was registered and further probe is on.
