The woman, Dimple, had not been seen for some days. Her neighbours informed her landlord after a stench started emanating from her flat. The landlord then called the police who recovered her body.
A case of murder has been registered at Bindapur police station. The body has been sent for autopsy for a detailed report on the cause of death, said a senior police officer.
The body appeared to have been lying there for a few days as it was beginning to decompose, police said.
Her identity was disclosed through her identity proof which was submitted with her rent agreement. Police is trying to contact the Mehrauli address given on her identity card.
Forensic evidence has been collected and call details of her phone are also being examined for further clues, said the officer.
