Satabai Keru Londhe was set ablaze yesterday following a quarrel over Londhe's 17-year-old son allegedly drinking liquor and creating nuisance in the locality, Bhiwandi police station's sub-inspector R V Patil said.
Londhe and the accused are all rag pickers residing in the same Padma Nagar locality of Bhiwandi.
The two families had a fight on Saturday over the issue following which the four accused -- Sumabai Chaggan Khalse (55), her two sons Haresh Chaggan Khalse (28) and Bhanudas Chaggan Khalse (30), and daughter Vandana Chaggan Khalse (25) doused Londhe in kerosene and set her ablaze, Patil said.
She was initially admitted to the IGM Hospital at Bhiwandi but later shifted to Thane Civil Hospital where her condition is stated to be critical, Patil said.
Haresh, Sumabai and Vandana were arrested last night following a complaint by the victim's family while the fourth accused is still at large, he said.
The accused have been charged under IPC sections 307 (attempt to murder), 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), 452 (house-trespass after preparation for hurt, assault or wrongful restraint) read with 34 (acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention), he said.
