Neetu Gond (30) had come to the village along with her minor son Shubham for Holi. The two were set afire outside her house by a person identified as Kailash Marskole and his two associates by using kerosene, police said.
They alleged that the woman had defamed them in the village by branding them as black magicians.
Both the victims were rushed to Pandhurna civil hospital from where they were referred to Nagpur in a serious condition. However, they succumbed to their burns en route, police said.
A case has been registered and further investigations are on.
