Woman set on fire by in-laws over dowry demands

A woman in Odisha's Kendrapara district died after she was set ablaze allegedly by her in-laws over dowry demands, police said Monday.

The woman in her early 30s died at SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack while undergoing treatment on Monday. She was identified as Bharati Swain, a resident of Balisuan village in Kendrapara district.

The woman in her dying statement said that "she was set ablaze by her mother-in-law and three sisters-in-law. They allegedly poured kerosene and tied her hands and legs before setting her on fire."
