A 35-year-old woman and her son today drowned in a pond at Nandkheda village in the district, police said.
Babita, the woman, had gone to the pond to wash clothes with her son Naitik (4), said the sub-inspector K Jaitvar of Kanhiwada police station.
While Babita was washing, her son fell into the water. She jumped in to save him.
When other women raised alarm, some men in the village tried to rescue the woman and her son but both drowned.
Bodies were sent to the district hospital for autopsy, Jaitvar said.
