Woman, son succumb to burns in suspected family suicide pact

In a suspected suicide pact driven by financial problems, a woman and her son died while her husband and another son were battling for life at a hospital here after suffering burn injuries.
The four were found with burn injuries at their house in Vaikom in the district this morning and rushed by neighbours to the Government Medical College Hospital hospital here, police said.
The 38-year-old woman and her 14-year-old son succumbed to burns at the hospital where the condition of her husband and younger son was serious, they said.
Police suspect that the family members had entered into a suicide pact and set themselves on fire due to financial crisis.
