According to Superintendent of Police Mahendra Yadav, the incident took place last night when Ashok Kumar, 60, who is a habitual drinker, had an argument with his wife, Komal, over his drinking habit.
Ashok, who owns a shop of utensils, killed his wife by strangulating her, he said.
Police have arrested Ashok and sent the body for post-mortem. Further probe is on.
